Wreaths Across America

Wreaths
Jace Taylor Raper, 5, Brilliant, places a wreath on the grave of Sonny James (Jimmie Loden) as Hackleburg American Legion Post commander Tim Howard looks on during the Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg on Saturday, Dec. 15. The ceremony coincided with hundreds of other wreath-laying ceremonies on veterans’ graves across the United States, and even one at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The event was sponsored by the American Legion Sonny James Post 165 in Hackleburg, named for James. “We are here not to remember their deaths but their lives and their sacrifice for this country,” Howard said of the nearly 200 veterans buried in the cemetery.
