Commission questions C3 membership

Marion County District 2 Commissioner Kenneth Cochran is seen at the commission's Nov. 19 meeting.

HAMILTON - One of the first orders of business the newly-seated Marion County Commission took up at its Nov. 19 meeting was to question its membership in the C3 of Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance.
The meeting was the first official meeting since the four new commission members were sworn in on Nov. 14.
The commission is due to pay an annual C3 membership fee of $30,000. The economic development alliance was incorporated in 2010 and is composed of three counties— Marion, Fayette and Lamar. The alliance’s stated goal is to recruit industry into the three counties.
“What have they done for Marion County? How many years have we paid in to it?” newly-elected District 2 commissioner Kenneth Cochran asked.
