BRILLIANT - Brilliant School will have its annual homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m., with lots of pre-game festivities leading up to the big game.
Throughout the week leading up to the game, each school day will feature different homecoming activities.
On Monday, Oct. 8, Brilliant volleyball teams will play a home game against Winfield, starting at 4 p.m. Students will also have the option to wear their pajamas to school this day for some relaxed fun.
On Tuesday the volleyball teams will play Phillips High School, again hosted in Brilliant, at 4 p.m., and the junior high school football team will play Lynn in Brilliant.
High school students can dress up as either rock stars or rappers and elementary students can dress their best as college students.
On Wednesday, high school students are sure to garner some great laughs from any observers, as they dress as either fraternity members or nerds. Elementary school students will put on their best camouflage for Camo Day.
On Thursday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m., there will be a potluck in the breakroom, followed by a bonfire held on the old practice field beside the old swimming pool.
Dress up for the day for high school students is cowgirls versus cowboys. The elementary school students can prepare some wild outfits for wacky day.
On homecoming day, all students will dress as tigers versus wildcats, as a spirit day festivity. The homecoming parade will take place at 1:45 p.m., marching through downtown Brilliant. The parade will include the Brilliant School Band, cheerleaders and community floats.
Pre-game activities will begin at 6:15. Alumni from the classes of 1948, ‘49, ‘58, ‘59, ‘68, ‘69, ‘78, ‘79, ‘88, ‘89, ‘98, ‘99, 2008, ‘09, and ‘18 will be recognized on the field.
Anyone who is a graduate of these classes and wishes to participate should meet in front of the concession stand at 6:15 for more directions.
After the game, a block party hosted by the Brilliant Schools Alumni Association will take place in downtown Brilliant with inflatable bounce houses, games and activities. Live music will be provided by Stephen Rogers, Trent Flippo and Jonathon Sloan.
On Saturday, Oct. 13, the ToyBowl Homecoming will take place. The Mini-Midgets, Midgets and Pee-Wee teams will play at 5, 6 and 7 p.m., respectively.
On Monday, Oct. 15, the junior varsity homecoming will take place at Brilliant. Pre-game activities start at 5:20, with the game following at 6 p.m.
