The clinic opening is part of the VA’s efforts to provide services to veterans located in rural communities, said John Merkle, director of the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. The VA provides services to veterans in 13 rural West Alabama counties Merkle said. “Our goal is to create something like this in each of those communities. We are honored to serve the veterans and I just want to thank the local community, Hamilton Mayor Bob Page and the board of the North Mississippi Medical Center for helping in this partnership,” Merkle said.
