Matthew Puckett: Just the usual once more

With our return to Hamilton, we attended Hamilton Free Will Baptist Church, where my grandfather, Edward Puckett, was the preacher.
I met one of my best childhood friends at the church, Dillon Sowa.
As many 5- and 6-year-old boys do, we began playing together and eventually going over to each other’s houses.
Everyone that knows me well knows that I spent a large amount of my time as a child with my grandparents.

Matthew Puckett: Four schools start back region play, Hackleburg out of action

Four of Marion County’s schools dive back into region play after last week’s non-region slate.
Three county squads picked up wins in non-region play. (Prediction is designated in bold text).

All games are scheduled to be played on Friday, Oct. 5, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

Prognostications: County’s longest running rivalry takes center stage

Non-region action moves to the forefront in this week’s slate of games.
After three weeks of playing region contests, county schools finally venture out to play some non-region opponents in some fun matchups.
The county’s longest-running rivalry happens at Estes Hudson Stadium this Friday night when the Hamilton Aggies visit the unbeaten Winfield Pirates for nothing more than bragging rights.

Marion County schools saw mixed results in Week 3’s slate of games.
Marion County and Winfield each came away with key region victories to remain unbeaten in 2018
Brilliant suffered its second-consecutive region loss. Hackleburg is still searching for its first win of the year while Hamilton encountered its first setback.
This week continues region contests for county schools before returning to non-region contests next week.
Last week saw me go 3-1 in my prep picks which put my record at 14-2 this year.
