Betty Joyce Newsome

Betty Joyce Newsome, 65, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at her residence. Betty was born on Jan. 26, 1960, in Aliceville, Ala., to the late Clyde Dillard and the late Willie Mae Banks Dillard.
She was a 1978 graduate of Sulligent High School and later received her bachelor's degree in computer science followed by her master's in business management, all from Bevill State and Kaplan University. Betty was employed at Wrangler in Hackelburg for 24 years and previously worked at Health-Tex and in customer service at Sitel. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially going fishing and to yard sales.  Betty also had a love for animals and listening to gospel music and Elvis. Her sweet and loving spirit will forever be missed and always cherished by her family and friends who adored her.
Betty is survived by her sons, Clint Warren and Phillip Newsome, both of Hamilton; daughter-in-law, Jeniece Warren of Hamilton; brothers, Jack Dillard (Patsy) of Greenwood Springs, Miss., and Guy Dillard (Sarah) of Sulligent; sister, Gladys Irvin of Hamilton; grandchildren, Mikayla Warren, Stephen Warren, Gabe Warren, Faith Warren, Bryan Woodall and Michael Woodall; and six great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lester Warren and Tommy Newsome; son, Chad Warren; brothers, George Dillard, Matt Dillard, Doc Dillard, Preacher Dillard, Jimmy Dillard, John Dillard, Frank Dillard and James Dillard; and sister, Virginia Faulkner.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 23, 2026, at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services and burial following in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.  Bro. John Holliday officiated.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Otts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 923, Sulligent, AL  35586.  
Pallbearers were Stephen Warren, Michael Woodall, Clint Warren, Andy Newsome, Jonathan Gersh and Phillip Newsome.
