Mr. James Samuel “Sammy” Lynn, 66, of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Mr. Lynn was born in Fayette, Ala. on July 13, 1957, to Hobert and Lois Lann Lynn. Sammy attended Harmony Grove Baptist Church and was a 1975 graduate of Winfield City High School. He later attended Northwest Community College in Hamilton where he earned a degree in drafting. Sammy began his career in 1979 with Continental Conveyor & Equipment Company and spent 37 years there before his retirement in 2016. In his spare time, Sammy enjoyed being outdoors, riding his Polaris, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, and fishing.
Mr. Lynn is survived by his wife, Cheryl Tucker Lynn; children, Katie Patterson (Paul) of Tuscaloosa, Emily Rea (Deric) of Winfield, and Zane Lynn (Carmen) of Diamondhead, Miss.; grandchildren, Pierce and Mattie Patterson, Ava and Ella Rea, and Ellis and Bennett Lynn; sister, Nelda Walker (Will) of Haleyville; niece, Caroline Gilmer (Will) of Hoover; brothers-in-law, Benjy and Eddie Tucker of Winfield; sisters-in-law, Joan Tucker of Winfield and Ann Barnes (Doug) of Twin; niece and nephew, Courtney and Hunter Barnes; and a host of other family members and friends.
Mr. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Nancy Lois Lynn.
Funeral services for Mr. Lynn were held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Winfield City Cemetery.
