Belmont, Miss. – Van Douglas Roberts, II, 49, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Haleyville, Ala. to Van Douglas and Judy Harbin Roberts. In 1999, he began his teaching career at Marion County, Ala. as a teacher and a coach. After one year, he then taught and coached at Tishomingo Middle School and became their principal for several years. In 2013, he became principal at Belmont High School and then worked as the Alternative School Director. He was a member of Liberty Church of Christ, Dennis, Miss.
He is survived by his wife, Darrah Roberts; daughter, Katherine Roberts; sisters, Lori Hellums (Dewayne), Cammi Webb (Wade), and Kristi White (Jeff); father-in-law, Greg Enlow; mother-in-law, Danette Enlow; sister-in-law, Ashlea Briggs (Derek); special cousin, Jeremy West (Kena); a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews; and two special fur babies, Cooper and Callie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Dewayne Hellums, Jackson Hellums, Jeff White, Blake White, Derek Briggs, Davis Briggs, Jeremy West, Robby Roberts, Anthony Stone, Jalen Stone, Grayson Stone, and Kane Rushing.
Visitation was Thursday, August 10, at Liberty Church of Christ.
Services were Friday, August 11, at Liberty Church of Christ with David Conley and Andy Deaton officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Iuka, Miss. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont will be in charge of arrangements.
