Mrs. Lorraine Alice Stai Smith, 89, of Brilliant, Ala., formerly of Moline, Ill., went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 28, 2023. Mrs. Smith was born in EauClaire, Wis. on Feb. 3, 1934, in East Moline, Ill., to Francis Clayton and Anna Marie Fedie Stai. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Moline and a graduate of Rock Island High School in Rock Island, Ill. Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with her world revolving around her family and extended family. Mrs. Smith hosted many family events and holiday get-togethers. She always had a home full of loved ones and laughter. Lorraine was employed with Epic Food Services at the John Deere Administration Building as supervisor overseeing the dining room, cafeteria, and special events. She enjoyed traveling and being with her husband and family.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Donna Lyons of Rock Island, Ann Allen of San Bernardino, Calif., Lorraine “June” Cagle of Brilliant, Melvin Smith, Jr. of Moline, and Frances “Marty” Smith of Moline; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Smith, Sr.; a daughter, Theresa Bodiford; grandchildren, Gabriel Haney and Melanie Bodiford; her parents; two sisters; and a brother.
