Separate sealed BIDS for the CITY OF WINFIELD MIDWAY DRIVE CULVERT REPLACEMENT will be received by THE CITY OF WINFIELD at City Hall until 10:00 o'clock a.m. (local time) Friday, August 25th, 2023, and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud.
The project will consist of the following materials; 250 cubic yards of borrow excavation, 740 cubic yards of structure excavation, 215 tons of crushed aggregate, 55 tons of superpave bituminous concrete wearing surface layer, ½” maximum aggregate size, 4,245 pounds of steel reinforcement, 72 feet of Concrete Roadway Pipe, 220 square yards of loose riprap, 420 square yards of solid sodding, 330 linear foot of silt fece, 120 tons of asphalt, all other labor, material, equipment, and work required or implied by the Contract Documents (Plans and Specifications).
The CONTRACT DOCUMENTS may be examined and obtained at the office of Porter-Higginbotham Engineering, after August 4, 2023, located at 204 Temple Avenue South, Fayette, AL, 35555.
Contract Documents may be obtained upon deposit of $100.00. Deposit will be refunded, less the cost of printing, distribution, and reproduction, assuming documents are returned in reusable condition within 10 days of bid opening.
Prequalification of Bidders is not required. However, Bidders must meet the minimum requirements included in the Contract Documents. Attention of Bidders is called to the provisions of State law governing “General Contractors”, as set forth in AL Code 34-8-1, et seq. (1975), and rules and regulations promulgated pursuant thereto.
The City will not enter a contract with a non-resident corporation or entity which is not qualified under State law to do business in the State of Alabama.
All Bidders shall possess all other licenses and/or permits required by applicable law, rule, or regulation of the performance of the work.
Upon submission of proposal, Bidders must submit their Contractor’s license number and a copy of said license. Any bid not containing a current license number shall be rejected.
Each Bidder must submit with its bid a cashier’s check drawn on an Alabama bank or a fully executed bid bond on the form that is contained in the Contract Documents executed by a surety company duly authorized and qualified to make bond in the State of Alabama. All bonds, sureties and/or cashier checks shall be made payable to the City of Winfield for an amount not less than 5 percent of the Engineer’s estimated cost of the project or of the total bid in the proposal. In no event shall the amount be more than $10,000.00.
