Mr. Truman C. Herren Jr., 81, of the Whites Chapel Community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at his residence.
He was born in Fayette County on Jan. 24, 1942, to Truman C. Sr. and Sally Sherer Herren. He attended Hubbertville School until 1958 when his family moved to Hueytown where he graduated in 1960 from Hueytown High School. He briefly attended the University of Alabama before joining the United States Army where he served as Chief Warrant Officer and helicopter pilot. He was later employed with the Hueytown Police Force where he served as a police officer for 15 years. He then joined the United Stated National Guard where he served many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, keeping up with current events, farming and Alabama Football.
Mr. Herren is survived by his wife - Frances Herren; children - Michael (Carol) Herren, Jason (Lisa) Herren and Alison (Heath) Townsend; step-children - Keith (Lisa) McDonald, Stanley (Tina) McDonald and Amanda (Jeff Tidwell) Tranum; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother - William E. (Patricia) Herren; sister - Joan Herren (Joe) Armstrong; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mr. Herren was preceded in death by his parents; and a step-daughter - Wendy Tucker.
A memorial service for Mr. Herren was held on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, from the Whites Chapel Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Whites Chapel Cemetery Fund at: 5121 County Rd 24 Eldridge, Ala. 35554, in Mr. Herren’s name.
