Hackleburg wins over Phillips Tuesday

BEAR CREEK — The Hackleburg Panthers defeated the Phillips Bears in a huge win 15-1 on Tuesday, March 29, in Bear Creek.
Hackleburg started the scoring early on in the top of the first inning scoring five runs to Phillips’ one run.
Hackleburg didn’t score after that until the fourth inning, where they scored nine runs, before closing out the game early in the fifth inning, where they scored one run.
Trett Irvin was the Panthers’ star player in the game, going to bat four times and getting three hits, scoring two runs and getting one RBI.
Ross Hudson had two hits in his two at-bats, earning two RBIs during the game.
Carson Swinney had one hit in three at bats and earned two runs and two RBIs.
Irvin was on the mound for the Panthers’ win against the Bears, letting up just one hit and one run in while striking out 10 batters during his five inning game.
Hackleburg’s win against Phillips High School brings them to 16-2 for the season.
“It was a good area win. We had some good quality at-bats and threw a lot of strikes during the game,” said Panther head coach Rod Hudson.
