HACKLEBURG — The Hackleburg Panthers defeated the Lynn Bears on Saturday, March 26, in Hackleburg with a 9-3 win.
The Panthers had a tough start to the game, struggling to get anything going against Lynn’s starting pitcher in the first two innings.
In the third inning, Hackleburg was finally able to get the bat to the ball, scoring five runs against Lynn and adding another run in the fourth inning.
Lynn began to come back with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Hackleburg kept them at arms length with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.
Hackleburg was able to see out the game without giving up runs in the last two innings, helping the team to  bring their record to 15-2.
“We faced a good pitcher. He was really good, but we finally got him in the third inning,” Coach Rod Hudson said.
Second baseman Ross Hudson was the most efficient player at the plate, getting two hits from his four at-bats in the game.
Pitcher Blaise Vickery stood out for Hackleburg from the mound, pitching 4 innings and striking out seven batters.
