BEAR CREEK - The R.A. Hubbard Chiefs defeated the Phillips Bears Friday night 18-6 in Bear Creek.
The Chiefs took the opening kickoff after Phillips won the toss and deferred to the second half.
The Chiefs were in the end zone in four snaps. R.A. Hubbards’ Tyran Murphy found the route open to the right from the Chiefs 40-yard-line. The two-point conversion was no good, leaving R.A. Hubbard ahead 6-0, with 10:04 left in the first quarter.
The Bears were forced to punt in the next series, putting the Chiefs at their own 29. R.A. Hubbard worked their way down to the Phillips’ 23, where Murphy brought down a catch for the touchdown. The two-point try was no good to make the score 12-0.
Hubbard scored their last points of the night midway into the second quarter. The Chiefs’ Quintez McCoy scored from five yards out. The two-point conversion was again no good, giving R.A. Hubbard an 18-0 lead.
