The Marion County High School Red Raiders secured the school’s first-ever girls athletic title on Saturday, May 1, being named the 2021 Girls Outdoor Track and Field State Champions. CULLMAN - Marion County High School (MCHS) continues to mark a historic year.
During the 2021 Alabama Class 1A Outdoor Track and Field State Championship which concluded on Saturday, May 1, in Cullman, the Lady Red Raiders were awarded the coveted Blue Map trophy, marking the first time ever for a girls team from Guin to secure a state title in any sport.
The Lady Red Raiders Basketball team came close to breaking the drought earlier this year. They finished the post-season with a Red Map and being named the 2021 State 1A Girls Runner-up, falling in the final game to Skyline.
Marion County Principal Dustin Silas commended the track team for its performance, stating, “Congratulations to the girls track team for winning the first ever girls championship at MCHS. The coaches and players did an outstanding job in their preparation and performance. The MCHS community is very proud of their accomplishments.”
