Wondering how to celebrate Independence Day next Saturday, July 4? There are a number of events taking place here in Marion County.
The Town of Brilliant will host its Fourth of July Festival on Saturday, July 4, from 5-10 p.m. at the Coalfest Stage located at 1100 Main Street in downtown.
Music will be provided by the Jordan Denton Band, Spencer Maige and Reckless, Anna Kate Warner and Lloyd Moses.
Town officials are encouraging guests to social distance during the event and to bring a lawn chair to “sit a spell!”
The City of Guin will host its firework display on Saturday night, July 4, at 9 p.m. from Hayden-Riley Park.
Cooter Brown Band will kick-off their performance at 6 p.m.
City officials are encouraging viewers to remain at and around their vehicles during the show in order to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.
Guin’s Seventh Annual Firecracker 5k and Fun Run will take place Friday night, July 3.
Same-day registration will begin at 9 p.m. at Guin City Hall. The Fun Run will kickoff at 10 p.m. and the 5k race will begin at 10:30.
Interested persons may sign up at McGuire Drug in Guin. Online registration is being encouraged to help prevent the possible spread of COVID-19.

Registration for the 5k is $25 and $15 for the Fun Run.
A DJ will be on-site providing musical entertainment. Shirts are guaranteed for the first 100 registered participants. Medals are available for all age group winners (1st - 3rd). There will also be door prizes.
The race will benefit Santa’s Workshop of Guin, which has raised $80,000 since 2014 to provide Christmas presents to 180 local children each year as well as food for elderly families.
The Town of Hackleburg will hold its firework celebration on Saturday, July 4, at 9 p.m. in downtown.
Officials are recommending viewers to wear masks and practice social distancing while they enjoy the display.
