Summary of local positions up for election

HAMILTON – The following are highlights about the major local positions that candidates are now qualifying for in the March 3, 2020, primaries.
Qualifying for the party primary elections ended Nov. 8, 2019. Independent candidates may qualify until March 3 to run in the November 2020 general election.
Marion County
Superintendent of Education
• Duties: To serve as chief executive officer of the county board of education and serve as secretary to the school board; to be supervisor over the Central Office of the board of education, form policy and carry out laws for the county school board and make recommendations on various related needs to the county school board;  and to develop public interest in education.
