Retiring after 35 years of service

Winfield Police Department’s Sgt. Jeff Hughes ended his lengthy law enforcement career with a retirement party on  Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Winfield City Hall. Hughes has been part of the WPD for 11 of those 35 years. Family members, city officials and other emergency response personnel attended Hughes’ retirement party which was organized by the police department. Winfield Police Chief Brett Burleson said that Hughes’ service will be missed. “Jeff is a good officer and a good friend,” said Burleson. “He was an experienced officer. We hate to see him go and he will always be a part of the WPD family.” (Contributed Photo)
