David Larry Sands

David Larry Sands, 70, of Hamilton, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026. He was born in Mobile, Ala., on April 24, 1955, to Lewis and Eulene Sands.
David owned and operated Sands Machine Shop in Hamilton for over 35 years. He attended Poplar Log Free Will Baptist Church with his family. He loved deer hunting and enjoyed coaching his son in baseball and his daughter in softball.
David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rhonda Duncan Sands; his son, Josh (Heather) Sands of Daphne, Ala.; and his daughter, Leah (Andrew) Howell of Hamilton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Roman, Legend and Winslett Sands of Daphne, and Lynleigh Kate and Jackson Howell of Hamilton. He is further survived by two sisters, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Eulene Sands of Fayette, Ala., and his parents-in-law, Bill and Virginia Duncan of Hamilton.
Funeral services were held Jan. 17, 2026, at Poplar Log Free Will Baptist Church, with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. His son Josh and Bro. Jason Hammontree, his pastor, officiated.
