WINFIELD — The Winfield City Council voted during its Monday, Aug. 17, meeting to add two chairs to the Hospital Authority Board, increasing the board from five members to seven members. The two new members will be representatives from UAB.
The Hospital Authority Board is responsible for hiring an administrator for the hospital and approving any hires the administrator makes, as well as other major financial decisions.
Mayor Randy Price, who is also a member of the board, said the decision was made in order to facilitate a partnership with UAB. The partnership would allow both hospitals to more easily share resources in a time when hospitals are under a lot of strain due to COVID-19.
