Hamilton High School Alumnus Jamie Brown is set to be inducted into the NCAA Hall of Fame and the Samford University Hall of Fame in 2025.
For Brown’s senior year at Samford University, under head coach Terry Bowden, the Bulldogs went 12-2 overall, making it to the semifinals of the national championship, resulting in their being number three in the nation. Brown was awarded the most knock outs of a competing team in a single season with 18.
This team will be inducted into the halls of fame on April 26, 2025. Guest speakers will be Bowden, Jimbo Fischer and Rick Thomas, former secondary coach of the Indianapolis Colts and Super Bowl winner. The entire team will be afforded this honor, as to date they still hold the best record for single season wins in Samford football history and highest national ranking. They were Division 1AA, which is Division 1 college football, but they have now changed it to two different Division 1 groups: the championship group and the bowl.
Brown graduated from Samford in December, 1991, after his two years at Marion Military Institute, where he was named junior college All American and winning every award they offered, including the Judson College President’s award for athletic achievement. He was recognized by Marion, the NCAA and Judson College from 1988-1989. He received a full scholarship to Samford and ended his career there.
Brown is a 1988 graduate of Hamilton High School.
