Mr. Carroll Dean Markham, 83, of Brilliant passed away on Jan. 29, 2024 in the Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Markham was born in Guin on Oct. 14, 1940 to Lewis Anderson and Gertie Dill Markham. Carroll was a member of the Gum Springs Freewill Baptist Church and a 1960 graduate of Brilliant High School. He was employed with Brilliant Coal Company for more than 20 years and later Glen Allen Rail Company for 24 years until his retirement. In his spare time Carroll enjoyed reading and studying his Bible, working on various projects, and keeping up his home place.
Mr. Markham is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel Markham; sons, Todd Markham (Stephanie) of Huntsville, and Greg Markham of Brilliant; grandchildren, Austin, Logan, and Kendall Markham all of Huntsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Markham was preceded in death by brothers, Delton, Middleton, Elton, and Leon Markham, and sisters, Margie Gay, and Genevieve “Gen” Langley.
Funeral services for Mr. Markham were held on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.
