Thomas Matthew "Matt" Graben, 51, of Detroit, Ala., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss., In honoring Matt's wishes, no funeral services will be held.
Matt was born on April 26, 1972 in Winfield to James Donald Graben and Shelia Jenene Cantrell Graben. He was a self-employed carpenter and thoroughly loved his work. He loved being outdoors, especially going deer hunting and fishing and working in his yard which he notably kept immaculate. Matt loved to travel and look at artifacts. He was also a very avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. Matt was a very loving family man, always cherishing the time he spent with his grandchildren. His kind and gentle spirit will forever be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Graben of Detroit, Ala; parents, JD and Shelia Graben of Hamilton; stepdaughter, Santana Wallace (Sean) of Fort Moore, Ga.; brother, Tim Graben (Renea) of Priceville, Ala; sisters, Cindy Atkins (Earl) of Hamilton, Amy King (Scott) of Sheffield, Ala; grandmother, Cuzell Cantrell of Hamilton; aunt, Sherry Harper of Hamilton; grandchildren, Sadie Mase Wallace and Seth Kennedy Wallace; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by stepson, Mason Douglas Franklin; grandparents, Robert and Willie Mae Graben; and grandfather, John Cantrell.
