James McHenry Murray of Hamilton,
passed away at North Mississippi Medical
Center in Tupelo, Miss. on Monday, Feb.
27, 2023. He suffered from respiratory failure due to COVID. James was born on Nov. 4, 1950, to LaFayette and Maxine Murray, who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Murray. On Feb. 11, 1977, he married Jacqueline Denise Gann. James had a successful career as a laboratory technician at NTN-Bower Corporation. Even after retirement, he continued to consult with the company on a part-time basis.
Nothing was more important to James than his faith. Even in his last days, he distributed bracelets portraying symbols for Jesus. James was a deacon at Barnesville Missionary Baptist Church, having served as chairman of the deacons for many years. He was also responsible for church finances. James would do anything for anyone, as was stated by so many people who paid their respects. Furthermore, he was a gifted gardener who shared his produce freely.
James is survived by wife, Jackie; daughter, Ginger Rivers (Danny); son, Dustin Murray; and grandchildren, Chandler Rivers and Chase Rivers. He is also survived by sister, Linda Kaspar (Steve); brother-in-law, Randy Gann (Mary); brother-in-law, Tim Gann; and a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and relatives.
Pallbearers were Michael Gann, Wesley Gann, Donald Knight, Ronnie Garner, Chris Hamrick, Doug Knight, James Bishop, and Phillip Knight. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Wright, Chris Edwards, Wendell Dupree, Glenn Minor, Kenny McCarley, and Nolan Satterwhite.
The memorial service was held on Friday, March 3, at Barnesville Missionary Baptist Church. It was officiated by Ritchie Emerson and Dwayne Satterwhite. He was buried at Bexar United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank Kyle Jackson and the staff of Hamilton Funeral Home for the wonderful accommodations.
