BRILLIANT — The Brilliant Tigers lost 33-0 at home to the visiting Hubbertville Lions on Friday night, Oct. 8.
The Brilliant defense started strong after the Lions received the opening kick off. The Lions gained six yards on a run their first play, but two sacks on second and third down sent them back. The Lions went for it on fourth down, but couldn’t get the first down.
The Tigers took over on their own 25, but an incomplete pass and a fumble in the back stopped any progress down the field. The Tigers punted on fourth down.
The Lions scored soon after with a run. The extra point was good, and the Lions went ahead 7-0 with 6:19 left in the first quarter.
On the Lions’ next possession, they made it to the Tigers’ 23-yard line. The Lions got a runner through the middle for another touchdown. The Lions set up to kick an extra point, but instead took the snap and threw a pass to go for two, but it was no good. The Lions were now leading the Tigers 13-0.
Neither team scored in the second quarter as each defense dug in, as well as they could on the muddy field.
