July 5K raises $15K for Santa’s Workshop

Over 50 runners participated in the Firecracker 5k and one-mile fun run presented by Encore in Guin on Friday night, July 3.
The event raised almost $15,000 for Santa’s Workshop of Guin, which provides Christmas for local kids in need. The event started at city hall with a one-mile fun run at 10 that night and the 5k at 10:30.
The top overall finisher and top male finisher was Pedro Bahema of Phil Campbell, who crossed the line in 17 minutes and 15 seconds.  Dawson Klein of Winfield was the second overall and male finisher, with a time of 19:47. Brad Heck was third with a time of 19:56.
Angela Miles was the top female finisher, finishing seventh overall with a time of 24:22. Zoe Lucas was the next top female finisher in eleventh place with a time of 25:50. Nicole Miles was third, crossing the line right after Lucas with a time of 25:54.
