GUIN - The Marion County Red Raiders earned their second win in as many weeks on Friday, Oct. 2, as they throttled the Tigers of Meek High School in a 43-16 win on Don Jones Field at the Bill Rayburn Stadium.
Darese Smith got the scoring started for the Red Raiders in the Class 1A, Region 6 contest with a two-yard touchdown run at the 1:37 mark of the opening period. Raider quarterback Deuce Belk carried across the two-point conversion, putting the Raiders up 8-0 heading into the second frame.
Marion County found their second score of the night in the second quarter when Belk called his own number for a 50-yard scramble that went for a touchdown. The Raiders failed to convert on the two-point try, putting the score at 14-0 with 10:44 left in the first half.
