SOUTH LAMAR - The Brilliant Lady Tigers fell just short in their efforts for a victory on Thursday, Aug. 28, in South Lamar.
The Lady Tigers roared to wins in their first two sets, only to drop the final three sets of the match.

Smith takes first at Pikeville Invitational

Hamilton - In the championship “A” group at the Pikeville Invitational, Cameron Smith defeated Jake Greer in the first playoff hole to win the tournament on Sunday, Aug. 10. Greer finished second and Donte’ Graham finished in third.
In the championship “B” group, Neil Moore finished first, Jim Odle, Jr. finished second, and Jerry Mcgaha finished third.
The invitational’s format is set so that each golfer will be divided into eight flights on Sunday. The flights are based on each golfer’s performance during play on Saturday.
In the first flight, Jeff Burrough finished first, David Lawrence second, and Randall Agee third.
In the second flight, Kyle Presily claimed first, Brad Frazier second, and Rene' Williams third.
In the third flight, Mike Greer won first, Todd Ingle second, and Scott Tittle third.
In the fourth flight, Vann Scott finished first, Bob Renfroe second, and Pete Aultman third.
In the fifth flight, Richard Franks took first, Curt Sparks second, and Derek Morgan third.
In the sixth flight, Daniel Cantrell finished first , Heath Pendley second, and Ken Madison third.
In the seventh flight, Ben Dearenwon first, Preston Jordan second, and Doug Mason third.
In the eighth flight, Justin McCrary finished first, Mack Smith second, and Tony Robertson third.
The golfers kicked the event off on Friday, Aug. 8, with a long drive contest that was won by Todd Ingle.
After the men had shown off their power on the range, a finesse competition began with the putting competition. Rusty Clark and Ted Norris shared the contested prize.
The par 3 tournament was also held on Friday with the first  trophy going to Cameron Smith. Barry Dennis finished second with Donte’ Graham taking third.
After the final hole of the invitational was played on Saturday, the golfers were treated to a steak dinner and a dance at the Pikeville Country Club.
The Pikeville Country Club welcomed 120 golfers from across the country to participate in the 2008 Pikeville Invitational.
