MARION COUNTY — Phil Segraves won the runoff election against Micheal Beck to appear on the ballots in November as District 17 State Representative Republican candidate on Tuesday, June 16.
Segraves received 3,419 votes (64.28 percent) over Beck’s 1,900 votes (35.72 percent) at the district level. Within Marion County exclusively, Segraves received 2,563 votes (70.96 percent) over Beck’s 1,049 (29.04 percent).
For County Commission District 1, Keith Nichols won with 548 votes (54.42 percent) over Jason W. Taylor with 459 votes (45.58 percent).
According to Marion County Probate Judge Paige Vick, the total voter turnout for Marion County was 16.83 percent.
Segraves said he was honored to win the runoff, and he is grateful for all those who helped his campaign.
“I was very honored and humbled and very excited—all three emotions played a big role,” he said. “I’m so thankful for the many people who helped me, and it was totally a team effort.
“There were many folks who were involved in my campaign from all over the district, and I’m very appreciative for all of that, whatever part they played from the biggest to the smallest.”
Segraves said he wants to continue to focus on economic development within District 17.
