WINFIELD — Winfield City Schools have received multiple grants through NACOLG and Senator Garlan Gudger’s office to go toward improvements for the Winfield City High School gymnasium.
The school was the recipient of three grants and projects thanks to the Northwest Alabama RC&D Council, State Senator Garlan Gudger and State Representative Tracy Estes, the Winfield Alumni Association and more.
RC&D approved $15,000 in funding to go toward installing sound panels in the gym. The gym is often used to hold events like graduation or Veterans Day ceremonies, and the sound panels will help reduce echo and improve sound clarity in the gym.
Estes also helped secure funding through community grants for upgraded lighting in the gym, something the school has been looking to improve for some time. That grant was around $17,000, with assistance from Hilda Smith on getting a lower price from the company that provided the lights.
