Virginia Dell Cantrell Aldridge


Virginia Dell Cantrell Aldridge, 80, passed away at her residence in Beaverton, on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022.  While we, who remain, mourn her passing, we celebrate a life lived full of faith, love and joy.
She was born in Lamar County on April 23, 1941. She lived most of her life in Guin. She met her husband, Bill Aldridge, as a teenager and they later married and celebrated 47 wonderful years together.  A graduate of Marion County High School, she attended business school in Birmingham. She returned to Guin and was a secretary for several local insurance companies before becoming secretary for Faith Fellowship Church, where she worked until her retirement; and then as a church volunteer, faithfully serving her Lord and her church family in prayer. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family as dearly as they loved her.
She is survived by her children - Veneta (Howard) McKinney of Athens, David (Marcie) Aldridge of Pencil Bluff, Ark., and Kerri (Jerry) Shoemaker of Springville; her grandchildren - Michael McKinney, Caleb McKinney, Jake Aldridge, Eric Aldridge and Jadyn Aldridge; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father - Erie E. Cantrell; her mother - Clemmie Cantrell; her brother - David E. Cantrell; and her husband - Bythel (Bill) Aldridge.
The funeral service was held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, from the Faith Fellowship Church in Winfield with burial following at the Webb Cemetery.  
Bro. Harry Sayler and Bro. Eddie Ayers were the officiating ministers.
