Sealed bids will be received by the Director Of Transportation at the office of
the Alabama Department Of Transportation, Montgomery, Alabama until 10 AM.,
July 30, 2010, and at that time publicly opened for constructing the following:
PAVEMENT REPAIR ON SR-4 (CORRIDOR X) AT VARIOUS SITES AS INDICATED BY THE PLANS
The total amount of uncompleted work under contract to a contractor must not
exceed the amount of his or her qualification certificate.
The Entire Project Shall Be Completed In Thirty (30) Working Days.
A 3.00% DBE Contract Obligation Is Required.
A Bidding Proposal may be purchased for $5.00 and a Bidding Diskette may be
purchased for $5.00. Plans may be purchased for $8.00 per set. Plans and
Proposals are available at the Alabama Department Of Transportation, 1409
Coliseum Boulevard, Room E-108, Montgomery, Al 36110. Checks should be made payable to the Alabama Department Of Transportation. Plans and Proposals will be mailed only upon receipt of remittance. No refunds will be made.
Minimum wage rates for this project have been pre-determined by the Secretary Of
Labor and are set forth in the advertised specifications. This project is subject to the contract work hours and Safety Standards Act and
its implementing regulations.
Cashier's check or bid bond for 5% of bid (maximum - $10,000.00) made payable to
the Alabama Department Of Transportation must accompany each bid as evidence of
good faith.
The bracket range is shown only to provide general financial information to
contractors and bonding companies concerning the project's complexity and size.
This Bracket should not be used in preparing a bid, nor will this bracket have
any bearing on the decision to award this contract. The Bracket Estimate On
This Project Is From $665,000 To $800,000 The proposed work shall be performed
in conformity with the rules and regulations for carrying out the Federal
Highway Act.
Plans and Specifications are on file in Room E-108 of the Alabama Department of
Transportation at Montgomery, Alabama 36110.
In accordance with the rules and regulations of The Alabama Department of
Transportation, proposals will be issued only to prequalified contractors or
their authorized representatives, upon requests that are received before 10
AM., on the day previous to the day of opening of bids.
The bidder's proposal must be submitted on the complete original proposal
furnished him or her by the Alabama Department of Transportation.
The Alabama Department of Transportation, in accordance with Title VI of the
Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Stat. 252, 42 U.S.C. 2000D TO 2000D-4 and Title 49
code of Federal Regulations, Department of Transportation, Subtitle A, Office
of The Secretary, Part 21, nondiscrimination in federally-assisted programs of
the Department of Transportation issued pursuant to such act, hereby notifies
all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into
pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded
full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be
discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, or national
origin in consideration for an award.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Town of Brilliant, Brilliant, Alabama will receive bids for the Town of Brilliant Main Street and Lawrence/Bostic Street Resurfacing (Project
No. ST-047-999-011) until 9:00 a.m. (CST), local time, on August 10, 2010 at the Brilliant City Hall, P.O. Box 407
Brilliant, Alabama 35548 at which time and place all bids will be publicly
opened and read aloud.
The work proposed to be constructed is the Leveling, Patching, Resurfacing and Striping of Main Street and Lawrence/Bostic
Street.
All bidders must be pre-qualified with the Alabama Department of Transportation.
Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bank draft payable to the order
of Town of Brilliant, negotiable United States Government Bonds (at par value),
or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety, in
an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid price.
Bid packages including contract documents, drawings, and technical
specifications may be secured from PERC Engineering Co., Inc., 1606 Highway 78
East, Jasper, Alabama, 35502. All questions shall be directed to PERC
Engineering Co., Inc., in Jasper, Alabama (205-384-5553).
The attention of all Bidders is called to the provisions of State Law governing “General Contractors” as set forth in the 1975 Code of Alabama and subsequent revisions. Bidders will
be governed by said law insofar as it is applicable. The above mentioned
provisions of the Code provides that no one is entitled to bid and no contract
may be awarded to anyone who does not possess a valid General Contractors
Permit or License as provided by the foregoing section of the Code.
The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond, labor and
materials bond, and to advertise completion of the contract in accordance with
Alabama State Law.
Not less than minimum wage as required by applicable regulatory agencies shall
be paid to all skilled and unskilled labor employed under this contract.
The Contractor shall comply with the Department of Labor Safety and Health
Regulations for construction promulgated under the Occupational Safety and
Health Act, the Anti-Kickback Act, and the Contract Work Hours Standards Act
(PL 91-54).
Bids may be held by the Owner for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from
the date of the opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing and investigating
the qualifications of bidders prior to awarding of the contract. Bidders shall
furnish to the Owner all such documents and information as the Owner deems
necessary for qualifications review upon written request by the Owner. The
Owner shall begin review with the lowest responsive responsible Bidder.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any
informalities in the bidding.
